The key to a truly bountiful spring garden is to get planting now. Contrary to what it might say on the seed packet, many old fashioned favourites do much better in Australia when they are planted in autumn. As they overwinter in the ground they developing strong roots, ready to burst into life when the warmer weather arrives.

This workshop is a hands-on planting workshop, where you’ll learn simple germination tips and try your hand at planting seeds using the paper pot method we use here at the flower farm. Specific information - such as depth to plant which seed and how to give seeds the best chance to germinate - will be provided. The workshop focuses on old fashioned favourites suitable for growing in a cut flower garden including sweet peas, cornflowers, snapdragons and stocks.

Participants will take home written notes, and enough seeds and seedlings to easily fill a two-meter square flower patch.

Workshop will be held 12.30-2ish Saturday 27th March at Organic Feast, 10-12 William Street, East Maitland.

In the event of this workshop being unable to run as a live event due to increased restrictions resulting from Covid-19, packs will be made available for collection from Organic Feast 24 hours before the scheduled start time, and the course will be run online as a live workshop.
